AUSAID
Direct Aid Program (DAP)
Project:
Provision of Technical Aids for People with Disabilities
Technical Aids: 21 Tricylces 200 Crutches
Target Group:
LDPA Members in 8 Provinces.
Project Description:
Giving PWD the technical assistance to carry out day to day activities in Lao PDR poses several unique challenges.
The environment in Lao can change quite drastically from season to season. Roads are usually gravel and open to change from season to season. Hence traditional wheelchairs are unable to deal with the extremes from wet and muddy to dry terrain.
The DAP project allows 21 PWD to carry out day to day activities within their communities through providing them with tough durable tricycles made in Laos by PWD.
Accordingly, the ability to mobilize PWD through the provision of crutches will allow PWD to get to school, local markets and access other services in their communities.
LDPA greatly thanks the Australian Embassy in Vientiane for their continued support.
