To Advance the Cause of Disability Rights and Education in the Lao PDR

           Project Goal:

The POWER Project aims to effect positive change in the human rights arena, and to establish the basis for the development of a socially inclusive society.

           Project Purpose

To contribute to the creation of a rights-based culture for disabled people in Laos .

           Project Outputs

The POWER project will implement activities aimed to increase community awareness about disability rights.

           4 key areas:

•  A network of cell groups comprised of individuals with skills, knowledge and understanding about PWD's rights, centred who will participate actively as leaders in seeking and securing rights for PWD.

•  PWD empowered with knowledge, skills and means necessary to seek enforcement of these rights.

•  Draft a Disability Rights Law for Lao Disabled People

•  Create channels for dialogue between Government, INGO's and Lao disabled people on how best to protect and preserve PWD's rights.
